ONLINE BOOKING SCAM ALERT: SCAMMERS MAY USE THE HOTEL’S GENUINE BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS TO GAIN YOUR TRUST
KK Sapa Hotel would like to alert our guests to an increasingly sophisticated online booking scam involving fake Fanpages, fraudulent booking confirmations, and fake websites.

In some cases, scammers may use genuine hotel information, including the hotel’s actual bank account number, to make a fraudulent conversation appear legitimate. After gaining the guest’s trust, they may then direct the guest to a fake website or payment page designed to collect banking information, passwords, or OTP codes.
Please note: Having the correct hotel bank account number does not necessarily mean that the person contacting you is an official representative of KK Sapa Hotel or that the transaction is being handled through the hotel’s legitimate booking process.
HOW THE SCAM MAY WORK
1. Sending a fake booking confirmation

Scammers may send a booking confirmation, payment request, or confirmation image designed to look similar to the hotel’s official documents.
The information may appear convincing, making guests believe that their reservation has been successfully confirmed.
2. Using the hotel’s genuine bank account details
To gain your trust, scammers may provide a bank account number that actually belongs to the hotel.
This can make the transaction appear legitimate. However, guests should not rely on the bank account number alone to verify the identity of the person communicating with them.
Always verify the booking and payment instructions directly through KK Sapa Hotel’s official contact channels.
3. Claiming that the bank transfer was made incorrectly
After a guest has made a payment, the scammer may claim that the transfer was made with an incorrect payment description, incorrect transaction format, or has not been properly recorded.

They may then ask the guest to contact a supposed “accounting department” or follow additional instructions to correct the transaction.
4. Directing guests to a fake website to receive a refund
This is one of the most dangerous stages of the scam.
The scammer may provide a link to a fake website designed to look like a payment gateway, banking service, or refund platform. Guests may be asked to enter:
- Bank account or card information
- Online banking passwords
- OTP or verification codes
- Other confidential banking information
Never provide OTP codes, banking passwords, or confidential financial information through an unverified
